Biography
Ms. Van Deusen received her undergraduate degree from Gonzaga University in 2002 and her J.D. from Vermont Law School in 2005. While in law school, Ms. Van Deusen completed a full-time judicial externship with the Honorable Judges Shelley I. Gilman and Joseph E. Meyer, III. She also participated in the Moot Court Advisory Board and served as secretary for the Vermont Legal Research Group. After law school, Ms. Van Deusen completed a two-year clerkship for the Honorable Judge Herbert L. Stern, III in Denver District Court before entering private practice. Prior to joining Burns, Figa & Will, Ms. Van Deusen gained extensive civil litigation experience in the fields of professional malpractice, insurance bad faith and construction defect.
Ms. Van Deusen’s practice is primarily focused on supporting the firm’s commercial litigation efforts. She is admitted to practice in the Colorado Supreme Court, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.
Ms. Van Deusen is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the Denver Bar Association. She is a volunteer attorney for the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network and the Colorado Lawyers Committee. Ms. Van Deusen was the co-author of the Civil Procedure section of the Annual Survey of Colorado Law in 2008 and 2009. Outside of work, Ms. Van Deusen enjoys hiking the trails of the Flatirons with her husband and dog and playing classical piano.
